DTE plans major role in UK glulam sector

Donaldson Timber Engineering (DTE) has set its sights on becoming the UK’s market leader in the design and supply of secondary processed glulam.

The company has appointed Malcolm Vaughton, the former UK managing director of Danish glulam producer Lilleheden, to run the newly-established glulam business.

DTE currently supplies a small volume of cut-to-size glulam beams and some glulam structures but the new operation and appointment are designed to develop the business.

“In recent years, the number of suppliers for glulam projects has diminished, creating an opportunity for us,” said DTE managing director Jonathan Fellingham.

Initially, DTE will establish relationships with key European glulam beam producers, while in the longer term it intends to design, detail and carry out elements of the secondary production processing in-house.

“It’s a very exciting venture for us,” Mr Fellingham added.
