STA to Showcase Benefits of Structural Timber at Timber Expo

Co-locating on the Structural Timber Awards gallery at Timber Expo (Hall 3), part of UK Construction Week, the Structural Timber Association (STA) will be highlighting the benefits of STA membership and promoting the industry-wide use of structural timber frame to further increase market share.

Representing more than 390 members from across the structural timber sector and supply chain, the Structural Timber Association (STA) will be co-located with the Structural Timber Awards.

Through the production of education, training and technical guidance, the STA is focused on supporting the growth of its members, the structural timber frame sector and wider construction industry.

Andrew Carpenter, Chief Executive of the Structural Timber Association said: “The structural timber sector is experiencing significant growth as the current construction climate lends itself to the benefits of structural timber – quicker speed of build, reduced reliance on onsite labour as well as reduced on site waste.

“This has recently been demonstrated by the investment in the sector by companies such as Legal and General, as well as the high quality and innovation showcased in the Structural Timber Awards shortlist.”

At Timber Expo, the STA team will be on hand for technical advice alongside STA produced guidance encouraging the growth of the sector, such as the Why Timber Frame? Guide. Also on the stand will be the STA pocket guides for structural timber frame and structural insulated panels (SIPS), which are widely considered as best practice for those working within the sector.

Andrew Carpenter added, “Timber Expo is the ideal platform for promoting the multitude of benefits that structural timber presents to the wider construction industry, which can enable housebuilders to meet Government targets and consequently, expand structural timber market share.”

Taking place from Tuesday 18th October to Thursday 20th October at the NEC, Birmingham, Timber Expo attracts more than 6,000 industry professionals from across the UK.
